The Advocate by Randy Singer

The Advocate
by Randy Singer

Overview

At the trial of Christ, Theophilus, brilliant young assessore raised in the Roman aristocracy, stands behind Pontius Pilate and whispers, “Offer to release Barabbas.” The strategy backfires, and Theophilus never forgets the sight of an innocent man unjustly suffering the worst of all possible deaths—Roman crucifixion.
When he returns to Rome, Theophilus must prove himself in the legal ranks of the Roman Empire. He endures the backstabbing intrigue of the treason trials and the attempts of a cruel tyrant to control the woman he loves. But his struggle for revenge leaves a stain on both the empire and his own troubled soul.
Ultimately, he will face the most notorious Caesar, defending the man Paul in Nero’s deranged court. Can Theophilus mount a defense that will keep another innocent man from execution?
The Advocate’s first trial altered the course of history. His last will change the fate of an empire.

MY REVIEW

I love anything Randy Singer writes and The Advocate is by far my favorite of Mr. Singer's yet. I was intrigued how he takes a man mentioned very little in the Bible, and creates a life for him. Theophilus is a Bible Character I've read and wondered about, but didn't understand his role in the Scriptures until I read this book. And I know being a work of fiction, this is Singer's imagination and creation of this man, during this period in history through the study and research he's done, but I love being able to bring a character to life before our eyes and we read the pages of a book such as this. Reading The Advocate gives a real sense of being in that moment in time, and I can understand reading the Scripture related to this story so much better.

I have only good things to say about this new book by Randy Singer, and I recommend it highly for you if you like Biblical fiction. A copy of this book was provided by Tyndale House Publishers for me to read and give an honest review. The opinions here are mine, and no one elses.

I received this book from Tyndale House Publishers for a free review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.
