The Stood Alone by Sandra McLeod Humphrey…Book Review and Book Launch…Sept 25th

They Stood Alone

By: Sandra McLeod Humphrey

Hey folks. I am excited to tell you about a wonderful book written my Sandra Humphrey about 25 men and women that have made a huge difference in our world today. And the special thing is. September 25th is Sandra’s book launch of her new book. Here is all of the information about the launch! Check it out and there are some freebies out there too for you!

About the Book

Imagine this: For centuries everyone has believed that the sun and all the planets revolve around the earth. But by studying the old books and observing the heavens, you have concluded that the earth and all the other planets revolve around the sun. Your theory is so radical that you are hesitant to tell others about it. Your name is Nicolaus Copernicus. Although at first your beliefs are denounced and ridiculed, your observations are eventually proved correct. In time, you come to be called the founding father of modern astronomy.
Or imagine this: It’s the early 19th century and women have few legal rights. Married women can’t own property, their wages belong to their husbands, and they don’t even have the right of guardianship over their children. You know the laws are unfair, but as a young woman yourself, what can you do? Your name is Elizabeth Cady Stanton. You spend your life fighting for women’s rights, and later many give you credit for being the architect and founder of the Women’s Rights Movement.
Nicolaus Copernicus and Elizabeth Cady Stanton are just two of the twenty-five extraordinary men and women whom you will have a chance to meet in this inspiring book that explores and celebrates people who had the courage to follow their own convictions, even when everyone around them said they were wrong. They were people of vision who saw life from a new perspective and were willing to question conventional wisdom. And their revolutionary breakthroughs changed and shaped the course of history.
Author Sandra McLeod Humphrey invites you to have the courage to stand alone too, hold on to your dreams, and follow your heart wherever it may lead. Like the twenty-five pioneers who lived before you, you too may someday make a difference.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
This is a book that everyone needs to read! Author Sandra Humphrey has written about 25 men and women who made a major difference in our world. These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things that made a huge different in our lives today. Some of these I have heard of, but some I hadn’t, so I thoroughly enjoyed reading this informative book. I was especially delighted to find Booker T. Washington included because his home place is just miles from my house. I really didn’t know anything about Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and it was interesting to find out that she had much to do with the equality of women. We also learn about more awesome people from Christopher Columbus to Neil Armstrong, with important and interesting information about each.
This is an easy book to read, the chapters being short and can be read in a few minutes. Sandra has included a picture of each person, with their date of birth and the date they passed away. And she writes each of their stories in an interesting way that captures your attention, making you want to keep reading.
I highly recommend this book for your reading enjoyment. This is especially a great book for school age children. Pick up your copy today.
This book was provided by the author for me to read and review. I was not expected or required to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.

Love is not the only entanglement. The nation’s enemies are afoot. They creep within the very walls where America’s defenses are being forged. Who are they? When will they strike? Who will survive their terrorism?
Intrigue of the heart and intrigue of the times are only part of this compelling story – book three of the Deer Run Saga. This series finale is a gripping mix of romance and deception, faith and forgiveness, transgression and trial.

My Thoughts On This Book
I’m excited to read and review this book after reading the first two books in this series. The story of Daniel and Mary’s family continues, and as in all families, their children have growing up and leaving the safe environment of their family home. Danny Lowe now lives and works away from home at the Springfield Armory. Susannah Dobbins just moved to Springfield from Boston with her dad. From the beginning, Danny and Susannah were attracted to each other, but Danny knew it wouldn’t work because he was only a factory worker and could never provide for Susannah with a life she was use to living. But their attraction on grew more and more.

I really love and thoroughly enjoyed this third and final book in The Deer Run Saga! Again, author Elaine Cooper writes a loving and heartwarming story based on her own family in the early 1800’s. The scenes in this interesting and intriguing story were so realistic that I found myself wanting to pray for these characters and the sad situations they were going through! And the love and closeness of the Lowe family gives readers that heartwarming feeling throughout the book as the author so vividly describes the family together and the interaction with each other. And this deep love for each other and for the Lord pulls them through the difficult situations they faced in life as a family. Life wasn’t easy in that era, and especially the Lowe family, knowing the background of Mary’s husband and Danny’s father Daniel Lowe. Which means you really need to read all three of the books in this series to find out what happens from the beginning.

And I can't forget to mention the beautiful cover of this book...I just love the awesome design and the colors. It all just seems to fit the story and the era, making the book even more enjoyable!

I highly recommend not only The Legacy of Deer Run, but I also recommend the first two books in The Deer Run Saga. I assure you, you will not be disappointed. And I almost forgot to mention the history in these books. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Springfield, Massachusetts and getting to know life as it was in the early years of the 1800’s era. I really felt as though I was there while reading these wonderful books. As you can see, I just can’t say enough about this awesomely wonderful series!!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This six-week long  40 minute a day Bible Study is just right for a study group duing lunch, a small group at church or a Sunday school class. And one of the neat things about it is, it is a no homework study. I've gone through several of these studies and I like the layout of them, and the way Kay Author encourages discussion times. This helps me understand the study much better. Though these studies may look simple at first, when you start studying, you will find that the author give you the chance to really dig deep into the Word of God, finding answers you may not have know before because of her unique way of teaching.

I highly recommend this Bible study to anyone wanting to learn more about God and His Word. You will find Kay Author's study methods to be different, but very helpful in learning more about our Lord. You just can't go wrong with this wonderful study about The Power of Knowing God. And I assure you, when you finish, you will know God in a much deeper personal way than before.

Grieving God's Way by Margaret Brownley

GRIEVING GOD'S WAY

by Margaret Brownley

Book Description

A 90-day devotional healing experience for the grieving spirit.

The death of a family member or friend is devastating. In fact, it can take five years or more for a person to adequately work through his or her grief, but because we live in a fast-paced society, we often sweep it under the rug or ignore it altogether. God has another plan.

Man's Way: Numb the pain God's Way: Heal the pain

Man's Way: Don't talk about it God's Way: Share your pain

Man's Way: Time heals God's Way: Faith heals

Grieving God's Way is a 90-day reader designed to bring hope and healing to those who have experienced loss. Each thoughtful devotional begins with a scripture and ends with a haiku, written to affirm the positive theme of the text.

Divided into four categories—body, soul, heart, and spirit—each day's entry offers insight into the grieving process that increases understanding of God's purposeful plan for healing the heart and soul.

MY REVIEW

A book like this written by someone who know's what they are writing about is always a good book. Maybe not an easy book to read, such as this, but a book we will all need at one time or another. I wanted to read and review this book because I of the loved one I have lost in my life, my grandparents, my in-laws as well as my precious mom and dad.

This 90 day devotional starts out Day One at the beginning with "What Is This Thing Called Grief." We think we know what grief is until we loose a love one, then we are hurting so much we really don't know how to grief. Margaret Brownley teaches us how to deal with our emotions, the hurt, the pain, the anger, the agony, the guilt, the sadness, the crying and all of these feelings, in a way that I've never really thought about. Well I guess I have, but Margaret has a way of writing that makes it easy to understand. She also deals with the other side, the laughter, humor, forgiveness, memories, gratutide, adjustments, blessings, and all that comes with these feelings.

You can go to this little book for just about anything you feel about loosing someone you love dearly. I really don't think I've grieved any of my loved ones properly, and I appreciate Margaret Brownley so much for writing thie devotional to help me! This is a book I plan on keeping where I can get my hands on it at all times. And if you are grieving, I strongly encourage you to get a copy of "Grieving God's Way" for your help and healing. This would be a wonderful book to keep an extra copy of on hand to give as gifts to those hurting over losing someone.

Again, I appreciate Ms. Brownley taking the time to write this book, and showing each of us how God brought her through her grief.

I rec'd this book from Thomas Nelson through their blogging program, Booksneeze. The opinions in this review are mine only.
