Sarah Esh’s peaceful life turns upside down one afternoon when a parachutist crash-lands on her family’s farm. The stranger insists his life is in danger and begs her to keep his presence secret. Sarah’s promise tangles her in a web of deceit that endangers innocent people, ruins her best friend’s reputation, and tears apart the Amish community. After she discovers the man’s true purpose, Sarah must confess her mistake and repair the damage she’s done. But how can she admit the truth to Jacob Zook knowing it will end their relationship?

Although he was jilted by Sarah’s older sister, Jakob finds himself attracted to Sarah’s kindness and honesty. Her innocence and gentle spirit encourage him to open his heart. Then he discovers the deep secrets Sarah’s been hiding—secrets that destroyed his family and now threaten their love.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This Amish story starts off quite different than most I have read. A Gift From Above is the second book in this series and it features Sarah, the more shy one if the Esh family. But when a flying man lands on their property near Sarah, her life certainly makes some drastic changes. For one, this stranger wants Sarah to keep it a secret that he is there. But that proved to be the wrong thing to do.

I love Rachel Good's Amish books because they take a twist from other Amish stories I have read. This one captured my interest from the start, from the parachutist landing in the Esh yard, to the lies that were told, to the real answers, this story takes readers on a journey that will keep you on the edge if your seats and keep you guessing until the end.

And though I enjoyed all of these amazing characters created by Ms. Good, Sarah and Jakob are my favorite. Sarah has such a kind and caring heart that shows throughout this book just as did the super nice guy Jakob is show. Overall this is a sweet Amish read with twists that make it quite the mystery. If you enjoy Amish, you will enjoy this one.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

  • Back cover

  • Leah Townsend, a recently orphaned heiress, flees Richmond after discovering her fiancé’s plot to kill her after their wedding. She needs a safe place to hide, and finds herself accepting a newspaper marriage proposal from a God-fearing young rancher in the Montana Territory. But when Leah arrives at the mountain ranch, she learns her intended husband was killed by a grizzly, leaving behind a bitter older brother and a spunky younger sister. When Gideon Bryant finds an eastern lady standing in his log cabin, his first thought is to send her back where she came from. He’s lost too many people to the wild elements of these mountains––his parents, his wife, and now his brother. His love for this untamed land lives on, but he’s determined not to open his heart to another person. But when an accident forces Leah to stay at the ranch for seven more months, can Gideon protect his heart from a love he doesn’t want? Has Leah really escaped the men who seek her life?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Rich girl answers mail order bride add makes for an intriguing story. And as Misty Beller for the author, I knew this one would be a most fantastic read. And it certainly was!!

After her father passed away, Leah Townsend fears for her life and ends up answering a mail order Bride ad she sees while looking for a job. But upon her arrival to the Montana Territory, finds her soon to be husband lost his battle with a grizzly. Her plans altered finds her staying in Montana for an extended time. Thankfully she gets along with Mariam, the sister because the brother of her intended was so filled with anger and bitterness because of loosing the people he loves to this land that he loves. There is no way he wants to even get to know anyone else he may loose.

Another amazing read from author Misty Beller. She writes these 'life in the rough mountains' stories like no one else. I love these Montana characters she has created. Abd I love that Leah found people she could love as family. Her entire journey was interesting, and especially her trip to the ranch with 'ol Mose. He was truly my favorite character. Leah spends a good amount of time with him as they make their way to the ranch. And I loved every minute of it. He reminded me so much of my grandaddy! And after she is at the Bryant Ranch, I enjoyed watching the growth of each character as the story unfolds. I loved reading the details of Montana in the 1800's, and the beauty of the land. There is really nothing I didn't like about this story.

One other thing I was impressed with is the way Leah fully trusted God with her life, and how she used her Bible as a Roadmap ad to what God wanted for her life. And it's all in the Misty Beller style, not preachy, just a gentle weaving of the Christian life into the lives of her characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a nice clean read. But the 1800's Montana living was kind of rough, so if this is enjoyful for you, this read is a must!

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Guest Post for A Cowgirls Dream

A mock magazine interview for Luciano – The love interest

Luciano Navarro - Is he Brazil's brightest rodeo star?

Rodeo News, March 2020

Not since the great Eduardo Cabrera dominated the bull riding scene, have we seen a Brazilian rider storm up the rankings the way Luciano Navarro has.  Along with his compatriot, Joao Rojas, lately it seems every event has set the green flag flying.  I was lucky enough to get a chance to sit down with Luciano after his win at Houston and interview him.

Since you started making a splash at rodeos, everyone has compared you to Eduardo Cabrera.  Do you think the comparison is justified?
Obviously I appreciate being compared to a champion like that.  Senhor Eduardo has been a great mentor to myself and Joao, helping us find our feet in a strange country.  I hope that I can make him proud.

You mention Joao Rojas, has it helped having a fellow countryman to travel with?
Yes, it has helped.  Joao feels like a brother now, we spend a lot of time together on the road. (Our interview is interrupted as several young ladies ask to have their picture taken.)

Does that happen often? You are obviously popular with fans, especially the ladies.
(He shrugs, as if the attention is normal) I enjoy talking to the fans, the girls are all very nice to me.  I have nothing to complain about.  It is not such a bad life for a single guy.

If you can escape injury and maintain your momentum, you have a good chance at the NFR in Las Vegas this year.  Does that add to the pressure?
No, each time I get on a bull, it is me and the bull.  I do not think outside of the 8 seconds.  I do try harder to keep my body fit between rides.  But man, I have always tried to think like I was a champion.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Doing what I am doing now, but with a new truck and wearing a gold championship buckle.  Maybe spending some more time at my ranch, (he gives his famous smile,) maybe I have a wife and children.  Or maybe, they make movie about my life. (he laughs).

Maybe, I know I would watch it.  Thank you for taking the time (more fans are waiting to get his attention,) I'll leave you to your fans.

Thank you.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Author Dana Mentink continues this series with another nail biting suspense thriller that will keep you reading until you find the answers. And this is just what Dory Winslow is trying to do. Find the answers to what really happened with the tragic boating accident years ago. Digging up secrets that someone definitely doesn't want her to resurface.

I have read several books by this author, and really liked them all, and this one is no different. The characters do their job as they develop well as the story unfolds. Not that I really liked them all, but for the most part most of these characters will warm their way into your heart. And even though this is the 4th book in this series, I feel it can be read just fine as a stand alone. If you enjoy a good clean thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat for a while, this is the one you want!!

"Readers who enjoy literary-style writing, but with all the turns and twists of a full drama plot are certain to devour this lavish and exciting work by author Daniel Davidsohn. One of the most impressive elements for me was the character development of Christel herself, who could so easily have followed the tropes of a typical beautiful lead female, but has several layers of depth and emotional heartache that she works through as the novel unfolds. The plot is revealed at a great pace to maintain intrigue for the sins of the past, but it also has plenty of surprises and revealing interactions along the way that astute fans will pick up on. Overall, A Goddess Among Men is a very enjoyable work and is not to be missed by fans of high-quality writing and accomplished drama." -  K.C. Finn, Author of The Mind's Eye "A Goddess Among Men is a fascinating tale of derring-do in the untamed wilds of the Amazon rain forest. Daniel Davidsohn has a writing style that is smooth, fluid and compelling. I found this story impossible to put down and completed it in just one sitting. The author’s descriptive prose of especially the rainforest, its flora, and fauna, as well as its native peoples, transported me there. I was beside the two men as they fought against horrifying deprivation and local political corruption to establish themselves in an industry where a few made a fortune and the rest either perished or were paupers, struggling along trying to survive each day. I particularly enjoyed the strong female leads in the story, especially the women that would steal Julian’s heart. All the characters were flawed and yet the author was able to arouse the reader’s sympathy and empathy even for the thoroughly crooked and, at times, despicable Alan Reid. If you like stories of generational power and wealth, this one will be right up your alley. I thoroughly enjoyed A Goddess Among Men and can highly recommend it to a wide audience."  - Grant Leishman, Author of Just A Drop in the Ocean

Book Description:

From the primitive ruggedness of the Amazon rainforest to the privileged society of New York, three generations experience triumph and tragedy in this saga of loyalty, corruption, greed . . . but one woman has the power to change it all. In 1907, Julian Welch and Alan Reid meet by chance in the jungles of the Amazon attracted by the riches of the rubber boom. Pioneers in an era of uncertainty, they form an unlikely alliance and establish the foundation for a successful empire, Reid & Welch. However, with Julian's death, the empire is left to Alan, as is the responsibility for Julian's newborn daughter, Christel. Yet for Christel, there’s no growing up as a privileged heiress. Instead, Alan subjects her to a life few endure, much less overcome. Through her will to survive and being as uncompromising as she is beautiful, Christel puts the horrors of her past behind her and begins to build a seemingly bright future. But when the success built on corruption starts to crumble, Christel will be forced to address the past or pay for the sins of the fathers.

AUTHOR DANIEL DAVIDSOHN’S INTERVIEW

1. What do you hope your readers take away from this book? It’s a story about many things, but mainly about what one reader defined as the strength of human spirit. It has to do with a person’s choice. In this case, a woman, her inner struggles when faced with a dilemma—to forgive and move on, or to become a bitter, vengeful person. I believe there’s something about human nature that impels us to follow the better path no matter how many demons we have whispering in the back of our ear telling us otherwise. In an ideal world we’d always make the right choices, but there’s no such thing as a perfect life, and that’s what I hope readers find reflected in my book.

 2. How do you come up with the titles to your books? It’s something I do on the spur of the moment. Like everything else you do when creating a book, you hope your chosen title is aligned with your cover and your story, so I usually test the title. Sometimes, it’s the alternative that wins and I have no problem in changing the title if it’s more interesting or if it brings more clarity to the project. For A Goddess Among Men, it grew from the idea that the protagonist, Christel, thrived after so much pain, which, in my mind, made her someone with almost god-like qualities. And since most of what she’s been through was caused by a male dominated environment, I thought that A Goddess Among Men would made her justice.

3. What were the key challenges you faced when writing A Goddess Among Men? First of all, it’s a three-part family saga. The protagonist, Christel Welch, only shows up on the second part of the book which, for readers in a rush to meet the protagonist, may be a little unorthodox. Second, I wanted to focus on how Christel thrived, instead of spending a lot of time showing her suffering. This story was written in a way I could show the psychological and emotional impacts of her early years reflected on her behavior and decision-making process. Then, there’s the historical aspect of the saga, which needed to be accurate. This has been one of my most challenging books.

  4. Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers? If readers look at the protagonist, Christel Welch, and wonder if such a character could have existed, they would be surprised to find out that women like her do exist. They are out there, telling their stories and not necessarily being heard, and their stories are much more dramatic and shocking than the Christel of the book.

5. Where do you get inspiration for your stories? I usually ask myself why isn’t anybody talking about this or that. And I don’t know why, maybe people prefer to talk about trendier things, or are not inclined to be bothered by subjects that may cause some discomfort when their purpose might be a little escapism. I like to think that the ideas behind my books have some relevancy, something I can also learn in the process, and perhaps make people ask questions. I don’t look for inspiration, I think many authors have plenty of material to develop. When I find something that interests me, I’ll do my best not to follow formulas or repeat myself.

6. Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring fiction writers? This “draining and stressful pursuit” makes for a great deal of what they call the author’s journey. You got to be ready to accept more downs than ups. And you really need to enjoy writing, whatever your definition of enjoyment is, because nobody knows what a successful book is. That’s something you only find out after the book is released. Before that, you can only hope you’ve done your best. So, if a writer manages to control expectations, and understands that the journey is in fact all there is, who knows, luck may play a part and you end up finding readers that will like what you write. 7.

What is the last great book you’ve read? An old Sidney Sheldon book called Bloodline. It’s a brilliant thriller, it felt like I was reading a modern commercial fiction. The guy was a master storyteller.

Caught By the Sheriff by Rula Sinara

Turtleback Beach #1)
By Rula Sinara
Contemporary Romance
Paperback & ebook, 384 Pages
June 1st 2019 by Harlequin Heartwarming

Can he love her…And keep her safe?No one in Turtleback Beach knows that veterinarian Grayson Zale is in the witness protection program—not even the woman who left him at the altar. When a joint inheritance brings Mandi Rivers back to their small seaside town, Gray can’t deny that their connection is as strong as ever. But his mysterious past remains between them; can he reveal the truth without endangering Mandi—and their future?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Moving back to Turtleback Beach, North Carolina, Mandy is fighting her attraction to once loved Grayson Zale. The more they are together the more the attraction is pretty clear. This is a fun story to follow. The character are real and enjoyable, for the most part. I love that there was a mysterious side to this story as well, throwing a nice twist to the story and made it more enjoyable for me. I love a good mystery! Overall I enjoyed this book except for one thing that I had a difficult time with. And maybe a ***Spoiler***. There was a twist that I didn't care for, and that was a alternative lifestyle the author throws in as an unexpected surprise, with no warning, which there should have been. Everyone has a right to their opinions, and I totally respect that, but readers have a right to a WARNING when something like this is included in a book. And for this reason, it saddens me that I will not be reading anything else from Rula Sinara, because the previous books I have read from her have been great reads.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

By Rula Sinara
Contemporary Romance
Paperback & ebook, 384 Pages
March 1st 2020 by Harlequin HeartwarmingIf she follows her heart…Will he follow the law?Turtleback Beach, North Carolina, would be paradise—if Faye Donovan wasn’t on the run. With her sister’s life in danger and her small niece to protect, Faye tries to avoid handsome town sheriff Carlos Ryker. But Carlos offers her a refuge, and Faye feels she’s finally found home. And yet he’s still the sheriff. Can she trust him with the truth…even if it means risking everything?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

As stated in my review of Almost a Bride, I don't care to read anything else from this author unless there is a warning about the conflicting issues in the book. Something like this should not be forced on a reader by surprising them without warning, and I am deeply offended by it. This review will not be posted anywhere except my blog. Nowhere on book sites or social media. I just want to author to know my feelings and why I stopped reading her books.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Kelly Smith does amazing work in writing this book. I admire her for her honesty and vulnerability as she tells her story. She digs very deep into her life and the toxic relationship she was in. Starting with the steps of how she became involved in this relationship, not even realizing what she is doing.

I have never been in an abusive relationship so I can not relate to Kelly and what she went through. Sometimes I don't understand why women don't just leave, and I understand this better after reading Signs in the Rearview Mirror. Though I understood some of why a person put themselves in this situation, I really didn't understand until I read this book. So for me, this book is full of new information for me. And even if I don't use it, I hope I can help someone else, turn them in the right direction. Give them a copy of Kelly's book. Point them to Celebrate Recovery for help. I am familiar with this program and it is a great one!!

I feel this is a must read for anyone who is in an abusive relationship. And even for people who want to be more knowledgeable about the situations involved. You won't go wrong buying this book! A big Thank you to author Kelly Smith for writing the awesome book.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Author Interview with Kelly Smith, author of Signs in the Rearview Mirror

Writing a book about toxic relationships isn't easy, when was the moment you decided to write this book?

I made the decision to write this book on a late Sunday afternoon. I had just gotten out of the shower and my body was frozen on the floor of my closet. My toxic relationship was ending, he was with someone else and I was in so much pain. I decided on that floor on that day that if I recovered from this pain, I would never let anyone go through this alone.

How did your friends and family handle reading this book with so much personal information in it?

They didn't know everything about my toxic relationship. I think when we are in such a rough situation we dont tell anyone what is really going on out of fear of judgement or the ones closest to us trying to get us to leave. We have to make that decision on our own. After the book came out, a lot of people in my life were surprised at how much they didn't actually know. Some were upset with me for not sharing and others were just happy I got out.

At any point did you consider using a pen name to hide your identity?

I didn't actually. I wanted my name to be on the book from the beginning. Now, after releasing the book, not so much. At times I can't believe I exposed so much of myself to the world. It's surreal to walk into a store or a restaurant and people I have never met before know so much about me.

How has your life changed since releasing this book with so much of your private life exposed?

It has not changed a whole lot, but it is interesting to know people all over the world know so much about me and the mistakes I have made in my life. At the time I was writing this book, I wasn't thinking about how much I was exposing myself until the book was actually out.

Do you have any regrets about writing this book?

I am not sure if I have regrets, I am grateful it has helped the people it has helped.

Thank you Kelly! I can not identify with what you went through, but I pray that those in the same situations as you went through will find help. You are a very brave woman to expose so much of yourself to the world.

"Lion I AM validates and assists children to experience emotions in a conscious manner -- essential to learning and gaining self-knowledge.  Scientific research has demonstrated that even more than IQ, your emotional awareness and abilities to handle feelings will determine your success and happiness in all walks of life, including family relationships.   Yummy Me Feels So Good will help you and your child learn to be “Lions of Love,” to consciously choose and express effectively what you are feeling.  Being watchful and strong like the Lion brings acceptance and maturity in the ever changing world of feelings. Then everyone can share this "feeling of magic” and joy with others.”  - Harold H Bloomfield MD, N.Y. Times bestselling author
.
Book Description: Yummy Me Feels So Good isn't just another story book. It is something you can use with your kids and grandkids for many years. Simple and childlike, kids identify with the gentle creatures within. Absolutely beautiful, Yummy Me is a genius way of helping children immediately connect with the world of emotions through enchanting animal friends. The images and words are so simple and therefore can be grasped by children and adults of all ages. The book can easily open up space for a dialogue about emotions between an adult and a child, all the while being playfully disguised as animal talk. Children laugh and grimace as they flip through the pages, mirroring the emotions they feel on the pages. Yummy Me is a great doorway to explore the sometimes difficult arena of emotions, both for children, teachers and parents.Rather than labeling certain emotions as "good" or "bad", these emotions simply get space to be as they are, and encourage the reader to remember that they too will pass. The final message of the book that we are in fact "none of these" me's is a loving reminder that at any moment we can start our day again from joy. "I have seen firsthand how taking out this book can transform a child's tantrum into a smile and eventually bursts of laughter.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Yummy Men Feels So Good is a really cute book is to help children explore their feelings. Feelings are sometimes hard for children to understand, and Liam I am Dan does such a fantastic job in this precious little book, using unique animals that we don't see a lot in children's books. Through these special animals, your child can learn to identify with whatever feeling they are having. I think my favorite has to be the Owl. With the oh so adorable picture of the Owl looking in the mirror saying:
Who,
Whooo, Whooo
Who am I?
Who am I?
There's so many
Me's in one day.
But then it's really hard to pick a favorite, they are all so adorable, and so knowledgeable in expressing their feelings. There are not many words in this book but lots of pictures. This is a wonderful guide to be used by anyone that works with small children, whether it be teachers, Sunday school workers, Day Care workers, parents, grandparents, and the list goes on. As you read the book to children, the emotions of each animal can be discussed in detail. This small book with few words can generate a big discussion with smaller little ones.
.
And the illustrations, it's  hard to find words to describe the cuteness and beauty of each. I love that after you read the book to your child enough that they know what emotion each animal represents, you will be hearing all kinds of different stories they will make up themselves just looking at the pictures.
.
I could keep going on and on about this book, but then I would take the fun out of you reading it. This us a book I highly recommend to everyone that comes in contact with children, and communicates with them. You will be surprised at how easy it will be to talk to little ones.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I thought this would be an interesting book to read, and I was right. Even though I don't love in Colorado, I was fascinated by everything I read about the state. Did you know that Denver is the largest city in Colorado? Well you may have, but with a whopping population of 693,417, it has to be pretty crowded. If you were born im n Colorado, you can find the most popular name the year you were born. You can also find the Birthday of the famous people born in Colorado. And you can find so much more in this little book.

This book may be short and sweet but it is chunked full of Colorado knowledge. I was hoping for some pictures, but my ebook didn't  show any. I feel pictures would make this so much more interesting. If this Colorado book would be of interest to you, I highly recommend it to you!

  Book Details:
Book Title:  Incandescent Visions  by Lee Hudspeth

Category:  Adult fiction 18 yrs +,  64 pages

Genre:  Poetry
Publisher:  George Lee Hudspeth Jr.
Release date:   December  2019 C

Book Description: Having written numerous works of nonfiction, this is Lee Hudspeth’s debut book of poetry. Incandescent Visions explores the meaning of the human experience, as the author encourages his readers to ponder the universe and their place within it, and to catalyze their own creative potential. From the sublime shores of the Mediterranean to the majestic expansiveness of deep space, this book contemplates nostalgia, perspective and the gift of love. Through five short yet powerful, thought-provoking chapters of contemporary poems—and a dash of elegant, evocative haiku—Hudspeth takes his readers on a journey across the inner landscape of struggle, triumph, self-realization and imagination.

My Review

I don't read a lot of poetry, so when I see a book of poetry for review, I always want to read the authors work. And this is one work of poetry I am glad I read. Lee Hudspeth had me digging deeper into my thoughts as I read each poem. I could not only feel the personal feelings of the author but in a lot of the poems, there was a deep meaning for me as well. Some of these poems even took me back to simpler times in my life while growing up, which was a fun trip back to memory lane. Some poems like  "Stronger"  I could relate to, with so many feelings I had while reading it  because of issues I have dealt with for over 25 years. How can a small book like this bring out all of these feelings in a person, you say? It's because of the brilliant writing of author Lee Hudspeth. Check him out!! The book is small, each chapter has a few poems each until you get to the last and 5th chapter which includes a bit of elegant, evocative haiku, which was new to me, something I have never heard of or read, so this chapter was very interesting. This is my first book by Hudspeth, but I will surely be looking for more if his books in the future. I know poetry is not for everyone, but if you love poetry, I would highly recommend you check this one out!! And if you are not a poetry reader, I encourage you to try this one. You just might enjoy it!! A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone.
