The Painted Vessel by Gina Renee Freitag
ABOUT THIS BOOK
A tragic past, a divine calling, a closely guarded secret, and the connection tying them all together.
“Eli, will you tend my crops?”
As Eli and Ada escape their captors, a plan involving a vivid dream, a colorful merchant caravan, and an intolerant town is set into motion. This divine plan will alter the course of their lives and test Eli’s willingness to surrender to God.
Set in the vast wilderness and rural towns of the late 1800’s, Eli and his wife Ada begin a fifteen year journey through trials and prejudices to discover the meaning behind his dream. But as Eli gets closer to understanding what he is being called to do, he will have to face the possibility that serving God could reveal a secret about himself and a past that he doesn’t want others to know.
Painted Vessels is a story of redemption that delves not only into the lives of Eli and Ada as they mature into adults, but also into the lives of the spiritually rich caravan members and the narrow-minded townsfolk of East Haven. It weaves a tale of sorrow, doubt, healing, hope, and eventual trust in the sovereignty of God.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Gina Renee Freitag has been a professional seamstress in many capacities for over 30 years, from wedding dresses to outdoor clothing and gear repair and prototypes. She started in theatrical costume design and construction at Whitman College while earning her Bachelor of Arts in studio art, followed by a theater staff position at Pacific Lutheran University. She has also been a homeschool teacher for the last 17 years (and running). She was raised in the Seattle, Washington area, and her home remains there today with her husband and younger daughter (her older daughter and son-in-law live close by as well).
Painted Vessels is her first novel, which started merely as an interesting story in her mind. As a class project, Gina encouraged her daughter to start writing down all of her stories and decided to take her own advice as well. Once she put the words to paper (and was encouraged by supportive friends), she felt lead to publish this narrative. And she hasn’t stopped! The stories surrounding these beloved characters continue to form in her mind and will hopefully appear in future books

Beachside Beginnings by Shelia Roberts
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
This is the first book in the Moonlight Harbor series for me, and it is fine as a stand alone. I didn't have any problems with the characters and story line at all. Moira Wellman was fed up with her boyfriend Lang. The last straw was when he kicked her kitten, who could defend himself. With help from friends, Moira ends up in a little town at the end of the world! A town she soon grew to love. Would lang find her there. Again Shelia Roberts gives her readers a fun and exciting new read. With characters that quickly drew me into their story the little town of Moonlight Harbor became like home to me. I love the descriptions of the places around town, of the beauty shop and how it became such a big part of the story because of Moira working there. And even though I am not into brightly colored hair, Ms. Robert's had me wanting to try what Moira could do to a person's hair. It is all so fun and entertaining. This is a great Contemporary fiction for anyone who loves a good story centered around a little beach town full of wonderful people who are willing to go the extra mile for their friends. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. The Frights of Fiji by Sunayna Prasad
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
This is my first read from author Sunayna Prasad, and though the fantasy genre is not my usual reads, I enjoyed this one. There is a host of colorful characters that develop well throughtout the story. The main character, Alyssa is more my favorite than the others. I think it is because of the difficulties life has thrown at her, with loosing her parents, as well as her aunt, which brings out a not so good side of her uncle. Forbidding her things she enjoys, being so rude to her because he blames his wife's death on Alyssa. And then, magic starts to happen and Alyssa's life really starts to change. I was quite impressed with the writings of this author. I was taken into a world of fantasyland I haven't experienced in books before, and it was quite delightful. The different scenes were well detailed with each character giving their own personality and flavor to the story. I think this coming of age story would be a really nice one for young girls who enjoy fantasy and a good magical tale with its own touch of wizardry. And a magical thanks to author Sunayna Prasad for writing this enjoyable fantasy that I can understand and enjoy. I am glad to have the opportunity to read and review this one. And I encourage parents of young girls to check this one out for their daughters. There is much happening here in this story, I only touched on very little. Its for you to read and get the full story as it unfolds for you, as you enjoy reading! Oh, and I can't leave out the awesome cover of this book! It gives that frightening look that is so well described throughout this book. The colors are bright, beautiful and any young girl, as well as anyone else will be sure to grab The Frights of Fiji right off the shelves before any other book! A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. Of Rags and Riches is a collection of none novellas from nine amazing authors. Set in the mid to late 1800's, each story is of poverty as well as luxury during this Guilded Age in our history. My review focuses on the first story in this book, Jennifer Uhlarik's Union Pacific Princess. And as I read each of the other stories, each one is so well written, going a little deeper than a lot if the novellas I have read. This Of Rags and Riches is truly one of the best books in the Barbour Publishers Collections I have read..... In Union Pacific Princess, Dara is headed to the Dakota Territory to see her father, who is working to get the railroad through the territory. This is definitely not the life she is use to living in Boston, but when Gage injures himself while protecting Dara and her cousin Becca, Dara is determined to help him until his injuries are healed. However, this does not sit well with Gage, since he is in the Dakota Territory to stop the railroad Dara's dad is trying to build. This is not sounding too good for Gage! I love Dara. She is sweet and caring, but her father, his attitude did much to hurt Dara even more. But Dara could stand her own very well, and her feisty attitude proved it more than once! Author Jennifer Uhlarik does a really nice job of creating characters and writing them into her story on a way we all can love. I love how she writes so many different angles to this story, then weaves them all together in the end. If you love historical fiction, especially Christian and clean reads, you will love this story. And you will love all of the other Stories in the Of Rags and Riches Romance Collections from Barbour Publishers!
