Description

Birmingham, Alabama, has lost all power. Its streets are jammed with cars that won’t start, its airport engulfed in flames from burning planes. All communications---cell phones, computers, even radios---are silent. Every home and business is dark. Is it a natural disaster . . . a terrorist attack . . . or something far worse?
In the face of a crisis that sweeps an entire high-tech planet back to a time before electricity, the Branning family faces a choice. Will they hoard their possessions in order to survive---or trust God to provide as they share their resources with those around them? Yesterday’s world is gone. Family and community are all that remain. And the outage is revealing the worst in some.
Desperation can be dangerous when a killer lives among them.
New York Times best-selling suspense author Terri Blackstock weaves a masterful what-if novel in which global catastrophe reveals the darkness in human hearts---and lights the way to restoration for a self-centered world.

MY REVIEW.... Ever wondered what would happen if everything suddenly stopped? Computers went down pulling everything to a stop. Cars didn't run, planes fell, everything comes to a complete stop. This is just what happened when Doug and his daughter Deni when one the way home from a trip to Washington. This brought a real struggle for the two to finally get home, including dealing with people in a panic because everyone was in the same situation. Upon returning home to Birmingham, Doug and Deni find everything is just as bad there as what they had witnessed coming home.

I am so glad Zondervan decided to re-release Terri Blackstock's Last Light from the Restoration Series. I loved this first book in the series. As I followed Doug's family and neighbors during this time of outage, I couldn't help wondering what would happen today if this happens. It would be rather scary. I was really neat to see how the neighborhood families came together to survive. Since none of the modern things worked in their home anymore, they had to figure out ways to feed themselves and their families and find different ways to survive. It was neat to see the change in their personality as they worked hard to do what needed to be done. Sometimes when I was reading, a lot of what was happening reminded me of some of the scenes in the Left Behind Series. The suspense here was beyond awesome and kept me up the night I finished reading.

This is a must read if you enjoy suspense fiction. You will surely appreciate this story that author Terri Blackstock has created for her readers. I have read all of Terri's books and love them all, and am very happy to be reading this series for the second time! Check out Last Light now and see what you think!

I received this book from the publisher Thomas Nelson and Zondervan through their blogging program, BookSneeze, to read and review.  I was not required to write a positive review.
