Hope...And The Hedgehog by Tom Vaughan

Join us for this tour from August 15 to September 2, 2022!

Book Details:

Book TitleHope...And The Hedgehog by Tom Vaughan
Category:  Adult Non-Fiction (18+),  100 pages
GenrePhilosophy/Spirituality/New-Age
Publisher:  Choir Press
Release date:  May 2022
Content Rating:  G. It has no swearwords or sex scenes.

Book Description:

Hope…. And The Hedgehog is a ‘pocketbook philosophy for the present age’, a digestible exploration of the meaning of life which aims to unpick the big questions most of us spend our lives avoiding: how did life begin, how does it end, and what happens to us after we die?

Is there life after death? Is there a higher power? Or, is life one big cosmic accident; a clash of particles and atoms and one big bang? Tom looks instead at the power of faith and spirituality which he separates from religion. While he does not attempt to present any definitive argument, he looks at all sides, gathering thoughts from history’s most influential philosophers and scientists.

He makes the proposition that, between only two possible explanations for the existence of life, there is a greater likelihood of the one over the other. He believes in the importance of opening up our minds and finding more of a sense of purpose and direction in life - a view that, as we look towards a post-lockdown future, will resonate with many people.

"I chose the book’s title Hope ... and the Hedgehog because hope is one of the principal drivers we resort to as human beings when confronted with a challenge to which there is no obvious solution. In the case of this book, that challenge is a very prickly issue: how we came into existence. It is an issue that we are all drawn to, but at the same time we do not want to handle or investigate too closely. Like the proverbial elephant in the room, we know that little hedgehog is there, we just prefer to leave it be – even if, in the end, there is no avoiding it."  - Tom Vaughan, May 2022.

My Review

First of all, I am glad author Tom Vaughan explained the Hedgehog in connection with this book in the beginning, because I had no idea where he was coming up with a Hedgehog and the contents of this book. In Hope...And The Hedgehog, Tom Vaughan talks about the questions could there be life after death and is there some higher power in the Heavens that controls our life after we die?

In reading this book, it's easy to tell the amount of research and time Tom Vaughan has spent on these subjects before writing this book. He doesn't speak of only one opinion, he speaks on each one and what he has found about each. And Vaughan doesn't try to persuaded  you either way. And I appreciate him for that. It was interesting and sometimes sad to read about everything in this book, but I will say, much of the book I don't see eye to eye with because my faith has settled all of the questions for me, and much of the fears. If these are questions you might have, this book may be what you are searching for.

I received a copy of this book from the author and iReadBookTours. I was not ask to write a favorable review. The opinions in this review are mine only.

With no scientific, philosophical or theological training and few school qualifications but armed with heaps of life experience as an entrepreneur, Tom switches gear with his latest work Hope...And The Hedgehog to take on the role of ‘everyman philosopher’, creating a new book that makes people stop and think.

The Practical M.B.A. on Economics by Joseph Gulesserian

Join us for this tour from August 1 to August 19, 2022!

Book Details:

Book TitleThe Practical M.B.A. on Economics "What They Do & Don’t Teach You At Business School" by Joseph Gulesserian
Category:  Adult Non-Fiction (18+),  526 pages
GenreNon-Fiction Business Economics History
PublisherBrands Fifth Avenue Inc
Release date:   June 2022
Content Rating:  G. Business Book on Economics

 #1 Best-Seller in Inflation & Economics History!

Book Description:

A Plethora of Wealth - Knowledge - Insights, that will help you take over the World and Beyond!

Government and the Central Banks have been managing the economic business cycle for over 100 years, creating the biggest Ponzi scheme of money printing ever invented in the history of civilization, as we now find ourselves living in a precarious house of cards. By hallowing out our manufacturing, have we diminished our inventiveness? What role did China really play in this, and what role did our own selfish desire affect the outcome, and what was the trade-off?

Is this the beginning of the end of US monetary global dominance, and how long can we print fiat money to support the vestiges of a declining Empire? Is the cost of living going up, or is it because currency is rapidly depreciating? What is the true source of effective inflation, and why is the wealth divide becoming greater?

The pages of this book bring to light the roots of our economic order of today, and help explain the world around us, how we arrived here, and what might lie ahead.

The Practical MBA on Economics is comprehensive, fast-paced, making for magnificent theatre, full of spills and chills, from stock market crashes to sovereign debt default, to the 1944 Bretton Woods reset, the IMF, the WTO, U.S. Dollar reserve, and mercantilism. We come to meet the economic thinkers that shape our world today from Adam Smith, Richard Cantillon, John Maynard Keynes, David Ricardo, Murray Rothbard, and Milton Friedman.

With intellectual clarity, insights, wit and humour, Gulesserian challenges the narrative, simplifies complex economic ideas, and draws from historical events, to explain how we came to the current financial world order, its perils, and the future of tomorrow!

With compelling antidotes that entertain, filled with relevance and a library of knowledge that leaves the reader feeling full, and liberated to unlock the future. So, butter your popcorn, do fasten your seat belts, and enjoy the ride.

MY REVIEW

My first thoughts when I saw the size of this book was Wow I will never get through the info in this book. But as it is, don't let the book size scare you, or the wealth of information. I know a little bit about things offered in this book, but most things I had no clue how stuff works! The economy, inflation, banks, our economic order of today, where is it all heading? I have no idea so I can't tell you! But what I can tell you is that this book, The Practical M.B.A. on Economics "What They Do & Don’t Teach You At Business School" by Joseph Gulesserian is very detailed on this and so much more. And for me, Gulesserian explains issues in this book pretty simple so everyone can understand.

If you are one to wonder what the world is coming to, I think Reading this book would help you understand better. Of course we know Biblically what the Bible says. But while we are here on earth we need to be informed of what our leaders are really doing, and I believe this book is a must read, as well as a book every household should have. And you don't need to read it all at one time, just look up the issues you want to know about at the time. All and all, this is a wonderful resource to have. I'm going to give this book Five Stars!

A copy of this was given to me by the author and iReadBookTours. The opinions here in this review are my thought only. I was not influenced in any way to write a positive review.

Two Roads to Paradise by Gordon Jensen with Cara Highsmith and Gordon Thomas

Please scroll down to see my review of Two Roads To Paradise.

Join us for this tour from July 18 to August 12, 2022!

Book Details:

Book TitleThe Way Out (Book 1: Be Careful What You Wish for Series) by Gordon Jensen with Cara Highsmith and Gordon Thomas
Category:  Adult Fiction (18+),  240 pages
GenreSci-Fi
Publisher:  Highsmith Creative Services
Release date:  September 2020
Content Rating:  PG-13 +M. The language is pretty tame, but there are a few swear words. The bigger issue is some of the topics addressed in it.

Book Description:

When the Alpha Centauri crew returns to earth after a failed mission to explore a distant planet, they quickly learn the world is not how they left it.

Under new global leadership, the planet has managed to go decades without conflict, except for one major problem. Thanks to a pandemic caused by a mutation in a new strain of GMO corn, the world’s population plummeted to 2.6 billion, wiping out a disproportionate amount of men and leaving the globe run almost entirely by women. The mutation altered the human DNA, making it impossible to produce male babies and increasing Y-chromosome related diseases.

Because of their lack of exposure, the Alpha Centauri crew, especially the men on board, now find themselves in high demand. The Powers that Be think they are the solution, but with that solution comes the inevitable hunger for power and control. As greed, self-interest, and corruption rear their ugly heads, a planet that had found its way to peace is thrust into turmoil once again.

So, the question becomes: Are they really the answer to a seemingly unsolvable problem? The world may soon come to understand that sometimes getting what you wish for isn't the gift you think it will be.

The Way Out is at once a brilliant and relatable work of post-apocalyptic fiction. Think The Handmaid’s Tale mixed with Netflix’s The Wilds, and a touch of Interstellar, the movie. It’s a uniquely told story that will have you waiting as impatiently as the crew to understand the New World Order of the near future.

Book Description:

Although the reappearance of the Alpha Centauri I crew was miraculous, it was not the celebratory homecoming they expected. Their return to a world reeling from a pandemic that wiped out more than half the population thrust them right into the center of controversy and conflict. Now, three years later, though the tide has turned and the survival of the human race seems to be secure, the survival of human relations is far less certain. The cure should have been the injection of hope the world needed to restore balance and end the chaos of the last four decades. Instead, the complex implications for personal rights and freedom have fractured the North American territory in such a way that the division may never be repaired. As the crew dispersed to find their place in this new landscape, Hunter Young found himself embedded in the Marshall administration as an agent for the mysterious K Group. What had been a relatively uneventful assignment suddenly becomes a whirlwind of adventure as he is called to a rendezvous that requires a long and circuitous journey.

⭐️⭐️ MY REVIEW of Two Roads to Paradise⭐️⭐️

Two Roads to Paradise (Book 2: Be Careful What You Wish for Series. After the Alpha Centauri crew returns to earth, finding it completely different, and it sure sounds a lot like what our mixed up world is today. Two Roads to Paradise picks up several years after the first book, The Way Out. As the crew tries to find their way in the new world, it wasn’t so easy. Everything has changed from when they were living here before.

There is a lot going on in this book Two of the series. I think you really need to read the first book, The Way Out first, so you can meet the characters and know what's already happened. This book would make a lot more sense to you reading them in order. There is a lot going on in this book, a lot of twists and turns that throw you off just when you think you know where the story is going. I am happy to give Two Roads to Paradise Four Stars. I encourage you to check out this book as well as the first book in this series. If you like Sci-Fi and Dystopian books, you are  sure to enjoy this one.

A copy of this book was give to me by the author and iReadBookTours. The opinions here are mine only.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

MY REVIEW

Imagine going on a mission and staying much longer than expected, but when you returned you had been gone forty years. Well, this is what happened to eighteen men and eight women in this book. The Way Out is Book 1 in the Be Careful What You Wish for Series. Authors Gordon Jensen with Cara Highsmith and Gordon Thomas write an intriguing and interesting Sci-fi that will keep your attention for a while. It was fun following these men and women as they emerged back into the world after being gone four decades. Of course everything has changed several times.

As the crew continue to find changes in the world, it seems a lot like what has been going on in our world for the past three years. But of course we don't know what will happen and how it will happen, but the invites in this book are a little weird. If you enjoy a good sci-fi read, I think you will like The Way Out by Gordon Jensen with Cara Highsmith and Gordon Thomas.

Book Description:The bonds of family go well beyond blood. But can those bonds hold when the blood itself carries a devastating secret? Fenlee's opal necklace had always radiated a certain warmth since her mother's death. But now, at sixteen, her world begins to unravel as the stone sparks to life, revealing itself to be an otherworldly artifact of untold power. Between her mechatronics studies at the academy and scavenging expeditions beneath the sprawling city of New Cascadia, Fenlee and her adopted brother, Elliot, try to decipher the mysteries of her necklace and its link to events in Fenlee's past. But they're not alone in their search. Strange undercity dwellers offer cryptic warnings, drones track their movements, and deadly corporate agents lurk in the shadows. When tragedy rips Fenlee's family apart, she must learn to use the artifact's power to save those who are deeply precious to her. But nothing can prepare her for the dark truths that she will uncover on that journey… “Lee,” Elliot mumbled. “I'm not who you think I am.”

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is a very interesting book, and especially for those who enjoy the Sci-Fi/Dystopian genre. The characters are well crafted and I enjoyed following their journey as they develop so well as the story unfolds. The plot flows pretty fast so its a fast read and keeps you on your toes. Fenlee and her younger adopted brother Elliot lived with the very poverty stricken people. As they were creeping through the Undercity dodging drones, they met a friend that will willing to help. And the help was kind of weird, but it was fun following this part of their journey. I found this book pretty interesting so I was happy reading it till the end to find out what happened.

The younger generation will really enjoy this story since it is is written for this age, but I do feel that anyone who enjoys a good Sci-Fi/Dystopian read will enjoy this one, so I highly recommend CHILD OF ETHERCLAW by Matty Roberts to any of you who may fit this description. I'll give this one 4 stars.
