Description

Birmingham, Alabama, has lost all power. Its streets are jammed with cars that won’t start, its airport engulfed in flames from burning planes. All communications---cell phones, computers, even radios---are silent. Every home and business is dark. Is it a natural disaster . . . a terrorist attack . . . or something far worse?
In the face of a crisis that sweeps an entire high-tech planet back to a time before electricity, the Branning family faces a choice. Will they hoard their possessions in order to survive---or trust God to provide as they share their resources with those around them? Yesterday’s world is gone. Family and community are all that remain. And the outage is revealing the worst in some.
Desperation can be dangerous when a killer lives among them.
New York Times best-selling suspense author Terri Blackstock weaves a masterful what-if novel in which global catastrophe reveals the darkness in human hearts---and lights the way to restoration for a self-centered world.

MY REVIEW.... Ever wondered what would happen if everything suddenly stopped? Computers went down pulling everything to a stop. Cars didn't run, planes fell, everything comes to a complete stop. This is just what happened when Doug and his daughter Deni when one the way home from a trip to Washington. This brought a real struggle for the two to finally get home, including dealing with people in a panic because everyone was in the same situation. Upon returning home to Birmingham, Doug and Deni find everything is just as bad there as what they had witnessed coming home.

I am so glad Zondervan decided to re-release Terri Blackstock's Last Light from the Restoration Series. I loved this first book in the series. As I followed Doug's family and neighbors during this time of outage, I couldn't help wondering what would happen today if this happens. It would be rather scary. I was really neat to see how the neighborhood families came together to survive. Since none of the modern things worked in their home anymore, they had to figure out ways to feed themselves and their families and find different ways to survive. It was neat to see the change in their personality as they worked hard to do what needed to be done. Sometimes when I was reading, a lot of what was happening reminded me of some of the scenes in the Left Behind Series. The suspense here was beyond awesome and kept me up the night I finished reading.

This is a must read if you enjoy suspense fiction. You will surely appreciate this story that author Terri Blackstock has created for her readers. I have read all of Terri's books and love them all, and am very happy to be reading this series for the second time! Check out Last Light now and see what you think!

FOREVER FRIDAY BY TIMOTHY LEWIS

FOREVER FRIDAY

BY TIMOTHY LEWIS

Every Friday, a postcard.
Every Friday, a love poem.
Every Friday for sixty years.

Adam Colby is just doing his job, sorting through the unsold Alexander belongings after the estate sale. He is unprepared for what he finds in an old photo album, overlooked by the bargain hounds and treasure hunters—six decades of postcards and poems from Gabe Alexander to his wife, Pearl. The mystery of the Alexanders’ love entices Adam, a man unhinged by divorce and puzzled by the depth of commitment that he finds in the unabashedly romantic cards.

Forever Friday invites you to travel back in time to the early twentieth century Texas Coastal Bend where a young couple—Gabe and Pearl Alexander—are swept up in a miraculous love. As the heartwarming, pulse-quickening story of their relationship develops through Gabe’s poems, the Alexanders reveal a new way to consider what it means to be truly devoted to each other. Could the secrets of their love affair, laid to rest twenty years ago, hold the key to one man’s future?

Here's what I think about this book.......Ever want to sit down and just read an old fashion, nice heartwarming love story? Well that is just what Timothy Lewis gives readers in his book, FOREVER FRIDAY. This story started with Mr. Lewis finding postcards, in the trash mind you, that his great-uncle had sent his great-aunt every Friday for sixty years, Can you imagine? Out of that love of his family members, and several years later, this story breaks through the mind of this gifted and talented storywriter, The story is very well written and the characters are so realistic. This is one of those books you can't put down because you just can't wait to find out how it will end. I will say there are some adult issues, and this there are issues the characters faced because theirs was not a perfect marriage, but I felt like it is all handled well. This is one you don't want to miss.

NIV Worship Together Bible Discover Scripture through Classic and Contemporary Musin, by Zonderv an

  • NIV Worship Together Bible Discover Scripture through Classic and Contemporary Music

  • Published by Zondervan

Worshiping God is one of the believer’s highest callings. Music and song have been a timeless way to glorify God throughout history. Scripture itself is full of musical and poetic praises dedicated to the Lord. Using a unique combination of songs and reflections, the NIV Worship Together Bible blends modern-day worship and culture with the beloved Word of God. This Bible helps you embrace God as your loving Father and shows you how to exalt him through song and reflection. The musical inspiration in this Bible will remind you of the importance of constantly striving to be Christlike. As Pastor Jack Hayford, the author of the song “Majesty,” once put it: “Worship changes the worshiper into the image of the One worshiped.”

Features:

  • The complete text of the world’s most popular modern-English Bible, the NIV
  • Lyrics to the top 50 worship songs
  • Song notes and reflections from the songwriters
  • Simple chord charts for the Top 20 worship songs
  • Essay that explores the purpose and history of worship music
  • Foreword by Matt Maher
  • Index to organize songs by scriptural reference

Here is what I think!

I love this Bible, because I love Worship Songs and enjoy singing them as I worship. The idea of having the songs throughout this Bible is awesome for me, and I also enjoy the Behind the Songs page as well. The songs mean so much more when you know why they are written, and its all here together in this wonderful Bible. The Hardcover Bible is beautiful, with calming and pleasing colors, inviting you to always read Gods Word.

If you enjoy Worship Songs while you are reading the Bible, then you will really enjoy this one. I encourage you to pick up a copy and see for yourself.
