 From Waterbrook Press

About This Book----Drewis caught in a world of light - just inches away from the dark

What if...there was a world beyond our vision, a world just fingertips beyond our reach? What if...our world wasn’t beyond their influence?

Tragedy and heartache seem to be waiting for Drew Carter at every turn, but college offers Drew a chance to start over—until an accident during a physics experiment leaves him blind and his genius friend, Benjamin Berg, missing.

As his sight miraculously returns, Drew discovers that the accident has heightened his neuron activity, giving him skills and sight beyond the normal man. When he begins to observe fierce invaders that no one else can see, he questions his own sanity, and so do others. But is he insane or do the invaders truly exist?

With help from Sydney Carlyle, a mysterious and elusive girl who offers encouragement through her faith, Drew searches for his missing friend, Ben, who seems to hold the key to unlocking this mystery. As the dark invaders close in, will he find the truth in time?

Review-----I really like Christian fantasy, and this is one good read! The characters were very well thought out while creating them. The plot is so captivating that I was glued to the book until I finished reading it. Drew was and interesting character, and he sure had his share of difficult situations. Drew looses his sight when he saw something that he didn’t understand, freaking his co-student out at the time! But eventually his sight comes back, and what he sees would change his life. It is all hard to explain here, you just need to get a copy of the book to read. Cloak of the Light is the book, and the author is Chuck Black. For you fantasy fans out there, you need to read this book. You may just like it as much as I did. This is not all from Chuck Black. Stay tuned for more in this series.

BOOK REVIEW

The Captive Maiden   By Melanie Dickerson

Though this is the first book I’ve read of Melanie Dickerson’s fairytales retellings, I have read many of Melanie’s books and love those I have read!

The Captive Maiden is awesome! I have always loved Cinderella, and to read Ms. Dickerson’s version was so very special. I will never get tired of the Cinderella story, and now I am so glad to have a ‘grown up’ version of it.

Melanie Dickerson writes a wonderful story with characters that I immediately fell in love with. And the story is so well written and captivating, that I didn’t want to it to end! And one more thing, the cover is just plain beautiful! Actually the cover is what drew me to the book, even before I found out who the author was. With a cover as awesome as this, the book can be nothing but good!! I love it, and you will too when you read your copy!

About this book
Will Annie find acceptance in the Amish community she left behind?
Annie Weaver always planned to return home, but the 20-year old RN has lived in Philadelphia for three years now. As her time of rumschpringe is about to come to an abrupt end, bringing for Annie an overwhelming sense of loneliness. She returns home and finds herself face-to-face with a budding romance with an Amish farmer and Annie has several important choices to make.
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Annie Weave's rumspringa comes to an end when she is needed at home to take care of her dad. Having a nursing degree, and working in a hospital gives her the knowledge she needs to take very good care of her dad. But then there is Samuel, who has been taking care of the medical conditions for the people in their little Amish community, so Annie doesn't want him to know she is probably more qualified that he is. Does Samuel realize that Annie has grown up while away? Or is he still looking at her to be the young person she was when she left home?
I love Amish, and I love Christmas stories, and I love Vannetta Chapman, so I knew this book had to be awesome! And it was every bit as awesome as I thought it would be. Not only was the holiday's near, the Weaver family has their normal life to take care of, as well as their dad not able to help. As the family and community pulls together to take care of the Weaver household, Samuel and Annie have their difficulties. And with all of these problems in this Amish house, this book was one I couldn't put down. I had to know what would happen to Annie's dad, if Annie would reveal to Samuel her medical knowledge, and I certainly wanted to know how the relationship between Annie and Samuel would go. So I pretty much read this book in one setting, reading much of the night!
I just know you will love this Weaver Amish family and everything that is involved in taking care of them. I really encourage you to pick up a copy of this heartwarming Christmas book for a few hours of joyful entertainment!

A Wild Goose Chase Christmas by Jennifer AlLee

Merry Christmas from Abingdon Press!

A Wild Goose Chase Christmas

ABOUT THE BOOK
Upon her grandmother's death, Izzy Fontaine finds herself in possession of a Wild Goose Chase pattern quilt that supposedly leads to a great treasure.
Of course, once the rest of the family finds out about the "treasure map," they're determined to have a go at the treasure themselves. And, if that weren't enough, Max Logan, a local museum curator, contacts Izzy and says that Grandma Isabella promised him the quilt.
What is it about this quilt that makes everyone want it? Is Izzy on a wild goose chase of her own, or a journey that will lead her to the treasure her grandmother intended?

My Thoughts on this Book
A Wild Goose Chase Christmas is a really good story about the ups and downs of family life. I really like the Grandmother in this story, though she has passed away, she leaves something for the family that will be with them forever. Being one of Abingdon's Quilts of Love Series, one of the special things the grandmother left her family was a quilt with lots of memories that will help heal the family difficult situations, and bring them close together. Each scrap of the quilt has a special place in a family member's heart.
During the holidays, we think of family and love, and this book is just that. Though its a little different, because the love didn't come easy, but as the gifts from grandmother appear, and the memories flow throughout the family, hearts heal. This is a wonderful book to read anytime, but especially during the Holiday Season. I always enjoy reading good holiday stories, and this one is a really good one! I highly recommend it for a great enjoyable read!
