Winter’s Treasure
Paris Kauffman believes she is about to embark on her family-tradition birthday treasure hunt, but for the first time ever, her daed is sending her to various businesses and homes in the community. Little does Paris expect that when she enters the bakery to collect her gift, the bus will drop off none other than her old crush, Aquila Stutzman, the man she’d done everything except cartwheels and handstands to get his attention. And failed. Of course, Quil doesn’t remember her.
Quil was offered employment working on his grandparents’ new tree farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Since he’s recovering from a broken heart when his longtime girlfriend Priscilla up and married his cousin, a move Quil never saw coming, he decides to take the job. This will give him time to separate himself from the hurt and maybe, eventually, move on.
Paris and Quil have sparks from the beginning, especially since his appearance causes a vicious rivalry between friends. But who can resist when a chance meeting beginning with donuts and coffee ends with a missing person, puppies, a skunk, and a sleigh ride—not to mention a trip the Amish young people plan to Niagara Falls. Could it also involve falling in love?
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Paris is having a sweet birthday, her dad planned her scavenger hunt BD fun. Each place she would go to, there was a gift and a note that took her someplace else. But Quil Stutzmans unexpected arrival into town has Paris on edge because she wanted nothing to do with him because of the way he treated her before. But no worries, Paris’ friend Sarah pretty much throws herself at Quil, defaming Paris any way she could.  But no fooling Quil, His attraction to Paris was too strong. But would Paris give in to Quil after the way he treated her before?
I love this sweet story. And what a sweet dad to make sure his daughter has a fun birthday! I really like Quil and Paris, Paris has a sweet and giving personality and Quil is quick to notice. But Sarah, I could do without. I just wanted to slap her for her attitude. But what fun would a story be without the Sarah’s!
One thing I always appreciate author Laura V Hilton for is the way she weaves the Christian life into her characters, and the way she shares the Gospel of Christ in her books. But it’s in a subtle way, never harsh or preachy. This is a sweet cozy story to read during the Christmas holiday season. And it’s short enough that you can read it in one or two settings! So check Love’s Christmas Blessings for some Chris fun and entertainment!

Mistletoe and Miracles
Daniel Graber has spent years caring for his aging parents. Now Daed’s in rehab with a broken hip and a bad case of irritability. He snaps at the workers and complains about doing physical therapy, so Daniel is grateful for the new aide, Fern Chupp, who uses her sweetness and charm to convince Daed to cooperate. Turns out, Daed isn’t the only one she charms.
As a widow, Fern is grateful for her new job at Fairview Rehab Center, even though it meant relocating to Ephrata, Pennsylvania, with her nine-year-old daughter, Lyddie. But Lyddie is grieving the recent death of her grandfather and dislikes leaving her Ohio home. Lyddie’s shyness also makes it difficult to make friends or recite school lessons.
When her class goes to the rehab center to interview patients, Lyddie’s too scared to do her assignment, so she runs away. During the hunt for her missing daughter, independent Fern learns to accept and appreciate Daniel’s help and support. By the time they discover Lyddie, she’s made a very unusual friend, and Fern and Daniel have developed a . Can four lonely heart create special bonds to make it a Christmas to remember?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
This story has a different twist to it. Of course it’s common for an Amish dad to be grumpy, at least in a lot of the Amish stories I’ve read. But this one has a little girl that is so shy she goes to the extremes to keep from taking in from if anyone. And then by accident the grumpy man meets shy little girl and well, you need to read this story to find out what really happens. There are a lot of twists and turns to this story, but it makes it more interesting.
I like Fern, she is kind of shy herself, but she is determined to work and support herself and her daughter. Daniels interest in Fern is a sweet turn of events, as well as Ferns interest in Daniel. There are several heartwarming and touching moments in this story. Author Rachel Good does a wonderful job of weaving love and forgiveness in the lives of some of the characters. And the way the people at the nursing home comes together to help Fern with her financial expenses was very touching. It’s too bad we don’t have more friends and neighbors like that. Daniel and Ferns story is another sweet story that you will enjoy. Especially if you enjoy Amish stories, or just a good clean, cozy story to read! This is your pick!
I love both of these stories, and they are stories I will sure be going back and reading again! A copy of this book was provided by Celebration Lit Tours for me to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.

Summer Plans by Karin Beery

8A34A6E6-CE6B-4E48-AC66-418C96118081
About the book:
Elementary school music teacher Callie Stevens thinks she’s finally figured out God’s plan for her life—she even made a list to keep her on track.
Moving in with her brother and reconnecting with her ex-boyfriend are at the top of the list. What’s not on the list is running into her childhood crush, Ryan. God wanted her to connect with Kyle, right?
Trying to figure out God’s plan is hard enough. But a dating-averse older brother, the young blonde who adores him, a pregnant best friend, and Callie’s continual mishaps make her wonder whether her best laid plans were truly God-inspired
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Summer Plans is a really fun and enjoyable book to read. I enjoyed the humor throughout the book, starting at the very beginning with Callie moving in with her brother, and finding out that her childhood crush was living with her brother as well. She is suppose to be at her brothers to find God’s will for her life, but even though she thought ex-boyfriend Kyle was God’s will, what was Ryan doing here? This was a big puzzle to Callie!
Most of the characters in this book are Christians, and their faith is a big part of their everyday life. And just like eveyone, their life took some twists and turns that challenges their faith, and these characters are anything but perfect. But I do appreciate the way the author weaves the Christian life so vividly in the lives of her characters. For anyone looking for a good Christian Romance, this is one you will want to read!
I received this book from Reading with Audra to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.
About the author:
Karin wrote her first novel in 2007 to cope with her husband’s cancer diagnosis (no worries – he’s cancer free now!). With the support and encouragement of her family, she submitted that manuscript. That particular manuscript has not been published yet, but Summer Plans and Other Disasters, her first published book, releases in September 2018.
Karin writes contemporary and speculative fiction stories with a healthy dose of romance, but she’s also expanded her repertoire: she writes feature stories for the local paper, copy material for businesses, and blog posts for herself and others. She even edits (offering copy editing, fiction editing, and critiques through Write Now Editing Services) and teaches (she’s the Substantive Fiction Editing instructor for the PEN Institute and can be found around the country teaching writing and editing courses at conferences and at her local college).
When Karin’s not reading, writing, or editing, she enjoys cooking and baking. She plays the piano and sings (the key of E, please). She kayaks with her husband in the summer, watches football in the fall (Go Blue!), and enjoys Christmas lights all winter long. Shy but extroverted, Karin adores her nieces and nephew and loves spending time with her family.

Legacy of Mercy by Lynn Austin

Legacy of Mercy
(Waves of Mercy #2)
By Lynn Austin
Christian Historical Romance
Hardcover, Paperback & ebook, 400 Pages
October 2nd 2018 by Bethany House Publishers
She Knew Her New Life Would Not Be Easy,
But Nothing Could Prepare Her For What Waits Ahead
Having returned to Chicago, young socialite Anna Nicholson can't seem to focus on her upcoming marriage. The new information she's learned about her birth mother continues to pull at her, and she hires Pinkerton detectives to help her discover the whole truth.
But as she meets people who once knew her mother and hears stories about the past, Anna soon discovers that some secrets are better left hidden. With pressure mounting to keep the past quiet, she discovers daily that her choice to seek God's purpose for her life isn't as simple as she had hoped.
When things are at their darkest, Anna knows she can turn to her grandmother, Geesje de Jonge, back in Holland, Michigan. Geesje's been helping new Dutch immigrants--including a teen with a troubled history--adjust to America. She only hopes that her wisdom can help all these young people through the turmoil they face.
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Legacy of Mercy continue the riveting story of socialite Anna Nicholson and her task at trying to find more information about her mom. Anna’s adoptive parents and her fiancée are ready for Anna to forget about her past and live for the future, but Anna needs to find the answers. But will Anna be able to clear her mama’s name.
Though I love both books in this series, I’ll have to say Legacy of Mercy is the better written one. But you definitely need to read the first book, Waves of Mercy first for the story to make sense.
I really like Anna and Dirk. Anna has such a sweet spirit. And even though she was raised with having the finer things, anything she could ask for, she enjoyed the simpler things in life. I love the way Ms. Austin writes the two time differences in such a smooth way. Sometimes the going back and forth between stories gets annoying, but not with this book, or the book before this. These characters seem so realistic, with struggles such as the things we all struggle with. And the most fun part of this book is traveling on the journey, watching Anna as she searches for her mama. and I love  how Ms, Austin weaves the Christian life throughout this entire book. And anyone reading can see what the gospel is all about Throughout this book. That’s what it’s all about!
This book was given to me by the publisher to read and review and post what I think about the story. This review offers my opinion only. The 5 Star rating is my opinion of how well the story flows, how well written, and just my overall opinion.
Praise for the Book and this series.
"Varying points of view, well-placed clues, and an interesting subplot about Anna's grandmother welcoming Dutch immigrants to Michigan keeps the story interesting. Austin skillfully embeds her strong spiritual message into the actions of her characters, creating a wonderful historical tale that is naturally inspirational."--Publishers Weekly starred review

Haunted by the Unknowns of Their Pasts,
Two Women Search for Answers Along the Shores of Lake Michigan
Chicago socialite Anna Nicholson retreats to the Hotel Ottawa in Holland, Michigan, after breaking her engagement with her wealthy fiancé. Filled with questions about her newfound faith and troubled by a recurring nightmare, Anna finds solace in Derk Vander Veen, a seasonal hotel worker who plans to go into the ministry.
Prompted by a request from her son, Geesje de Jonge begins to sift through memories of emigrating from the Netherlands almost fifty years ago. As she writes them down for the Semi-Centennial anniversary of the town's settlement, her story takes on a life of its own as she honestly and painfully recalls her regrets, doubts, hardships, and joys. Her story captivates Derk, who sees similarities between Geesje and Anna, and wishes to bring the two together.
Past and present collide as Anna and Geesje seek clarity, but neither expects the revelations that await them.
Praise for the Book
"Interlacing the past with the present-day lives of Anna and Geesje, Austin compassionately delivers a moving tale of family bonds, tests of faith, and abiding love."--Booklist starred review
"Austin has crafted an interesting, historically accurate portrait of two profoundly different characters: one looking back at life, the other taking her first faltering steps toward independence."--Publishers Weekly

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Malcolm MacGregor and Alanza Cantalamessa are from very different cultures and social standings, but that doesn’t stop the attraction between the two. Malcolm finds himself having  lunch at the Cantalamessa family restaurant  every day, just to watch Alanza, but he never really talked to her that much. Then Malcolm finds he’s getting a promotion that will keep him away from home for six months. So he decides it’s time to move fast and win Alanza’s love very fast so she can go in this trip with him as his wife.
I enjoyed this sweet Christmas story. Malcolm and Alanza are both interesting and intriguing characters that I begin to really like as the story unfolds. And I especially like the closeness of Alanza’s family, and their concern for her. The 12 gifts was an interesting part of the story. I found myself wandering what the next gift would be. And in the end, well that’s where you will need to read the story to find out what the real ending is going to be for these two wonderful characters. This is a sweet cozy Christmas story that everyone enjoying Christmas stories will certainly love. I highly encourage you to check out this wonderful book!

She handed a mug to him, picked up her own, along with coasters and two napkins, and headed into the living room. He followed.

Sons of Blackbird Mountain by Joan

Book Description

A Tale of Family, Broth
erhood, and the Healing Power of Love
After the tragic death of her husband, Aven Norgaard is beckoned to give up her life in Norway to become a housekeeper in the rugged hills of Nineteenth-Century Appalachia. Upon arrival, she finds herself in the home of her late husband’s cousins—three brothers who make a living by brewing hard cider on their three-hundred acre farm. Yet even as a stranger in a foreign land, Aven has hope to build a new life in this tight-knit family.
But her unassuming beauty disrupts the bond between the brothers. The youngest two both desire her hand, and Aven is caught in the middle, unsure where—and whether—to offer her affection. While Haakon is bold and passionatey, it is Thor who casts the greatest spell upon her. Though Deaf, mute, and dependent on hard drink to cope with his silent pain, Thor possesses a sobering strength.
As autumn ushers in the apple harvest, the rift between Thor and Haakon deepens and Aven faces a choice that risks hearts. Will two brothers’ longing for her quiet spirit tear apart a family? Can she find a tender belonging in this remote, rugged, and unfamiliar world?
A haunting tale of struggle and redemption, Sons of Blackbird Mountain is a portrait of grace in a world where the broken may find new life through the healing mercy of love.
My Review
What a story! Aven Norgaard had no idea her deceased husband’s three cousins are adults. With nothing left for her in Norway, she sets off for the US by an invitation from her husband’s aunt, but things have drastically changed when she gets there. And she finds out the boys she thought she would help take care of were not boys. But as Aven stays with the boys and their housekeeper, a love grows between them, bonding them as family. Another surprise is that these boys made a healthy living by making hard cider. Something she does not approve of. What will Aven do? Will she continue to stay with the Norgaard guys and their housekeeper? Will one of the boys wil her affection?
Joanne Bischof writes a riviting tale in Sons of Blackbird Mountain. From the unique characters that come right off the page to meet the readers, to each scene describing the details, this book is one that I couldn’t put down. The author deals with several issues here, substance abuse, brothers rivalry, neighbors rivalry, deaf, and so much more in this book, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.  I thought her descriptions in the deaf scenes were so spot on, and she handled it so well and with much grace. I learned a lot about this issue reading this book. And though I don’t use hard cider, or anything like it, it was fascinating at how precise the production is. And Aven, being the Christian she was, came up with some pretty impressive recipes and ideas to use the hard cider in different ways than just drinking and getting drunk. The main characters in this story each has their own part to make this family work, which makes the book more intriguing.
I hope you will check this book out, and I think you will be happy you chose this one! I received this book from BookLook Bloggers to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.
