Amazon ~ B&N ~ BAM Mascot Books . When the Sun Met the Moon is a story of the sun and the moon meeting for the first time. The sun brings so much light to the universe and the moon brings us our nighttime, just as God made it in the beginning. Children will enjoy hearing story as you read it to them and will be sure to ask you to read it over and over. And the illustrations by Leo Hart's are the most beautiful, all of the beautiful blues of nighttime and the bright colors of the sun. The Sun and the Moon characters are so adorable as well. The cover of the hardcover book is simply adorable. Any child would love to have this book in their library. I encourage you to check out this book for your child. They will love the story and they will love looking at the beautiful pictures as well. And now Join me for an interesting interview with Simran Mohinani
. Q: Tell us a little about yourself! A: My name is Simran Mohinani but most people call me Simi or Simi Moh, I'm 22 years old and am ethnically Indian but was born and raised in Hong Kong and continue to share my time between here, London and Boston. I just graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Business (Entrepreneurship and Innovation) and a minor in Global Fashion studies. I have written three other books and own three businesses and work full-time for my infinity flower venture MOHLIA. I have a beautiful dog named Sofi who is a 9-month-old Pomeranian and the most supportive family and friends in the world! Q: Why did you choose the book's main characters to be the Sun and the Moon? A: A lot of my previous work and poetry can attest to my affinity for astrology and astronomy. I've always loved deploying the Sun, Moon, and Stars as symbolic characters in my work to make my pieces more applicable for all my readers. You could be a 6-year-old or a 40-year-old with different genders in different parts of the world and still be able to step into the shoes of a character and empathize with them because they are neutral and based on nature. For me particularly the Moon has always been a huge guiding force in my life, especially with my star sign being a Virgo, I've always had this insane spiritual connection to the Moon, and so I wanted it to be a central theme in my book somehow, and everything organically just fell into place! Q: Do you write every day? A: Short answer: not. I believe my most successful writing comes from raw emotion, if something really good or really bad happens I feel the need and urge to just expel it all out on paper with words. I believe writing every day just to write doesn't produce any of my best work, I need to feel like I have something worthwhile to say otherwise I won't be in the mood to use that creative part of my brain to its best ability. Q: The book is about a love story between the Sun and the Moon - are you a hopeless romantic? A: I am a total sucker for love. I'm that person sobbing at the end of every rom-com, rooting for the couple on the screen to end up hopelessly and irrevocably in love forever. In reality and from my own experiences, love can be a beautiful thing, but it also takes a lot of work. That's a realization I think kids should be exposed to from a young age; that not just love, but life, takes a lot of work, and if you have a partner to help support you with the everyday motions of life you should find someone who can balance you and who is your equal. Q: Once this pandemic is over, where would you like to travel to first and why? A: I would love to go to Ecuador to see where the flowers I get for MOHLIA come from, and back to London to see my sister, friends, house and just be in one of my favorite places. Selfishly? I would go to Kenya to do a beautiful African safari, that is something I've always wanted to do especially having loved animals all my life! Q: If you could share any advice with budding writers who may be reading this, what would it be? A: If you have a beautiful story to share, please go out and write it! The world needs more joy through words, creativity, and imagination. Reading helped me cope with things growing up like my anxiety; stories provide a form of escapism, knowledge, and connection. The art of storytelling is a historically symbolic form of perspective, culture, and imparting values that defy language, age, religion, and gender, continuously knocking down the realm of impossibility that modern-day industrialization likes to promote. Q: Finally, will When the Sun Met the Moon have a sequel? A: I promised myself I would take a break from writing after this book. I'm shifting a lot of focus onto growing my business, being an entrepreneur is not a walk in the park by any means. Eventually, though, I would love to build upon the romance that is When the Sun Met the Moon and maybe in the future there will be a part two!
