Book Description:The bonds of family go well beyond blood. But can those bonds hold when the blood itself carries a devastating secret? Fenlee's opal necklace had always radiated a certain warmth since her mother's death. But now, at sixteen, her world begins to unravel as the stone sparks to life, revealing itself to be an otherworldly artifact of untold power. Between her mechatronics studies at the academy and scavenging expeditions beneath the sprawling city of New Cascadia, Fenlee and her adopted brother, Elliot, try to decipher the mysteries of her necklace and its link to events in Fenlee's past. But they're not alone in their search. Strange undercity dwellers offer cryptic warnings, drones track their movements, and deadly corporate agents lurk in the shadows. When tragedy rips Fenlee's family apart, she must learn to use the artifact's power to save those who are deeply precious to her. But nothing can prepare her for the dark truths that she will uncover on that journey… “Lee,” Elliot mumbled. “I'm not who you think I am.”

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

This is a very interesting book, and especially for those who enjoy the Sci-Fi/Dystopian genre. The characters are well crafted and I enjoyed following their journey as they develop so well as the story unfolds. The plot flows pretty fast so its a fast read and keeps you on your toes. Fenlee and her younger adopted brother Elliot lived with the very poverty stricken people. As they were creeping through the Undercity dodging drones, they met a friend that will willing to help. And the help was kind of weird, but it was fun following this part of their journey. I found this book pretty interesting so I was happy reading it till the end to find out what happened.

The younger generation will really enjoy this story since it is is written for this age, but I do feel that anyone who enjoys a good Sci-Fi/Dystopian read will enjoy this one, so I highly recommend CHILD OF ETHERCLAW by Matty Roberts to any of you who may fit this description. I'll give this one 4 stars.
