BUY THE BOOK:

Author's Website Amazon add to Goodreads untitleddesign_1_original-4 How does Macey feel about herself represented in the book?  I think she loves it. But she was more excited to see her imaginary friends and her dog, Maya (Bear-Wiggle-Bum-Bangsund) than she was to see herself.  How long have you been writing?  As long as I can remember I have been writing in journals. I have a huge stack that I contemplate burning from time to time (for the sake of no evidence!), but then I think I may want to go back someday and learn about teenage-Caitlin all over again.  I started sharing my writing when Macey was sick. I used a blog to keep people updated, and then it turned into a form of therapy for me. Writing helps me feel anchored I guess.
There are many books out there about happiness … what makes yours different?
I am using a real-life superhero - my daughter Macey - to reflect the happiness she actually exudes. Her zest for life is unparalleled! She is my “glitzy gladiator” and I hope the delight (the zest) she spreads around in real life can spread farther because of this book.  Is there a specific ritualistic thing you do during your writing time?  Apparently the yoga pose “reclined-butterfly” is supposed to encourage creativity, so sometimes I try to lay down on the floor before I write in order to see if that will help! I also like to have my laptop open, as well as loose leaf and a pencil (rarely a pen) beside me most of the time. My brain is busy and I like to jot notes down while I write. Maybe I should try to focus better?!

What is the funniest thing that ever happened to you?

At the expense of my reputation, I will share an embarrassing story of a flight I once took from Alberta, Canada to New Brunswick, Canada (that would be a 49 hour drive!). There was a 3-hour layover in Calgary, but I mistakenly got off the plane in Edmonton. I proceeded to not clue in that I was waiting for 3 hours in the wrong airport. When I went to board the plane, they looked at my boarding pass and that is when it hit me. My exact words were, “Oh, am I not in Calgary?”  The best part about the whole thing was that my completely ridiculous error resulted in me getting flown first class. I’m thinking they were worried about my sanity.

If there is one thing you want readers to remember about you, what would it be?

My tag line is “press on and conquer,” and I want readers to believe they can do that even if the steps are really, really small. Tiny steps still move us forward.

What is your next project?

I have a second “Marvellous Macey” book being illustrated right now. In this book, I share the hard (but victorious) part of her journey. After that, my vision is a third book that focuses on her intellectual disability. untitleddesign_1_original-16 Marvellous Macey,  The Delightful Days is about real life Macey and the zest she has for life. Every day I'd a good day for Macey and she us truly so very Marvellous! Macey is a delightful to everyone she sees because she is do good at remembering faces and names. And to new people she meets, she doesn't mind asking who they are and being her delightful self to them. Marvellous Macey also has some imaginary friends she loves, and these friends also help being there for Macey. Macey is a joy and delight to everyone she is around. The book mentions the mountains she's had to climb, and if you go to the authors website you can read about the very many difficult medical situations Macey has had to face in her young life. I like that the author didn't mention the specific things her daughter endured, because any child or parent can read this and find inspiration and encouragement. This book will be an amazing book for children going through these very difficulties in their own lives. If you know someone who has a child going through difficult situations no matter what they are, Marvellous Macey, The Delightful Days would be a wonderful gift for them. In addition to this wonderful delightful story, Illustrator Csongor Veres does a fabulous job of creating just the right characters and images for each page that go perfectly with the story. I love the characters faces and the expressions on them, and especially Macey's. Each picture of Macey clearly shows how happy she is, and how delightful she is to every person she sees. I love that when smaller children has the book read to them, they can go back and look at the illustrations and tell the story themselves. Everything about this story is a sure delight. And if you want to know more about Macey and her journey, I encourage you to visit the authors website and read Macey's story. I'm am in awe of this brave, courageous little girl. She is amazing, and a little one I would love to meet someday! Marvellous Macey, The Delightful Days should be in every child's library, as well as the libraries of every daycare, preschool, kindergarten, elementary school library as well as any Dr or Dentist office or anywhere a child would be. I encourage you to read this book and do what you can to help the author spread the word about this special book.  And I give this one 5plus stars. I sure wish I could give it many more. Oh and there are many freebies on the website for kids. I've included some here on my blog post. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book.
